Daum Nancy "Snow Drop" Cameo Glass Vase

This cameo glass "Snow Drop" vase, by Daum Nancy, features carved light blue flowers on brown stems against a mottled white and blue ground, an ideal example of the natural inspiration found in French Art Nouveau. The elegantly elongated features a frosty scene of cool mottled blues of various shades serving as the backdrop for a field of earthen toned brownish stems and leaves that eventually give way to white blossoms so delicately rendered, they are, in some instances hard to make out at first glance.

Daum Nancy is noted and celebrated for creating an atmospheric quality in their compositions, and this vase is an excellent example of that. With a frosty appearance, and featuring a flower that blooms only in winter, this vase perfectly captures the beauty of a season that is not often thought of for its natural beauty.
