Created circa 1981, these Van Cleef & Arpels "À Cheval" transformable day/night earrings with over fourteen carats of diamonds are set in 18K gold. Each earring is designed with a navette-form top suspending a flexible cascade, set throughout with seventy round-brilliant-cut diamonds mounted "à cheval", or "overlapping" each other to create flexible bombé forms. The pendant is removable for day/night wear. A beloved style first introduced in 1981, employing an innovative new setting technique creating "brilliance and relief", these ever popular earrings successfully "captivate the eye".
