These 18K gold, emerald, sapphire and diamond clip earrings by Bulgari date from the 1980s. Designed as a double leaf forms, each leaf centers an oval cabochon emerald or sapphire framed by pavé-set round brilliant-cut diamonds, mounted in 18K gold. Modeled expertly to frame the face with sparkling diamonds, these vividly colored clip earrings are classic 1980s Bulgari.

A devotee of Bulgari, Andy Warhol was an outstanding collector of decorative arts, and had a particular love of jewelry. Of the art jewelry modernists, Warhol collected Boivin, Dusausoy and Cartier, among others, while Bulgari was his favorite contemporary jeweler. Warhol owned Tubogas and Monete jewels by the firm, and was a frequent visitor to Nicola Bulgari's boutique at the Pierre Hotel in New York, as well as their salon in the Via Condotti, Rome.
