Antique 18K Gold Urn and Wreath Pendant Earrings

Dating from the 1870s, these pendant earrings are composed of 18K gold. Each is designed as a line of spheres flanked by scrolls suspending an elongated open drop with wirework laurel wreath motifs and large pendant bead, framing a flexibly suspended fluted urn within. Beautifully light to wear, yet voluminous, these unusual antique earrings captivate the eye with their gentle movement and warm patina.

In the 1870s, one of the leading designers of these popular, lightweight, creatively designed gold pendant earrings was Robert Pringle & Sons, a multi-generational family business located in the Clerkenwell neighborhood on the northeast edge of central London. The Pringles traced their London heritage back to the 16th century.
