Tiffany Studios New York "Peacock" Favrile Glass Vase

This Tiffany Studios New York Favrile glass "Peacock" vase with iridescent pulled decoration, stylized to mirror the shimmering patterning of a peacock feather by Louis Comfort Tiffany, is subtly one of his favored pieces. The milky, blue-grey of the vase provides the ideal backdrop for the vibrant swirls of bright iridescent glass that decorate it, rendered to appear so sinuous, so lively and so dynamic in their composition as that by trick of the eye they appear to be motion, dancing into the form of Tiffany's beloved peacock feather.

The peacock feather was a favorite motif of Louis Comfort Tiffany, and he incorporated it not only frequently into his motifs, but with exceptional care always to capture the particularities of the bird's beautiful accessory.
