Tiffany Studios New York “Daffodil” Paperweight Favrile Glass Vase
This "Daffodil" paperweight Favrile glass vase from Tiffany Studios New York, featuring yellow daffodils with red centers supported by green stems, is playfully sweet and foggy. The beauty of the paperweight glass technique comes not only from knowing that it was a marvelous technical innovation of its time, but also in the particularly romantic ocular effect it achieves. Through careful and innovative layering of glass forms, Louis Comfort Tiffany managed in this piece to create a soft and hazy, inviting and atmospheric effect in which the daisies appear as though within a pleasant mirage.
