The diamond line bracelet is also known as the tennis bracelet. So-called because of American tennis champion Chris Evert’s penchant for wearing a diamond line bracelet during her matches. In 1978, she famously stopped a US Open match so that she might find the diamond bracelet that had come off during play. Viewed in her time as frivolous and unusual, Evert’s commitment to wearing jewelry on the court eventually became the norm and paved the way for many others, including fashion and tennis icon, Serena Williams.
