Roberto Coin began creating jewelry in 1977 in Vicenza, a town in rich in the goldsmith's and in artistic tradition. Located in the Veneto, a short distance from Venice, Vicenza is a well-preserved Renaissance gem of a city, renowned for its architectural masterpieces by Palladio, as well as artwork by the Venetian painter Tiepolo. Traditionally a city of goldsmiths, the town hosts an international gold fair three times a year. Their important jewelry museum, the Museo del Gioiello, is one of few worldwide dedicated to jewelry arts. Coin's success in jewelry derives from personal passion - he came to the art from a successful career as a hotelier, with no family heritage in the business. His firm grew rapidly since the 1990s. He is committed to ethical sourcing of diamonds, and his signature touch on every piece of jewelry, a ruby, is produced by him from sustainable materials. His diamonds are Kimberly Process certified. The architecture of the Veneto serves as his inspiration.
