Jean Després Hammered Silver Coupe
$12,500
This chained Jean Després hammered silver coupe brings the luxury of haute joallerie to the dinner table. The chain motif was first shown at the fall salon of 1948 and the majority of the items with chain decoration were made in the 1950s. The form is almost identical to his makers mark which makes this is an exemplary piece.

The curb link chain was a staple of the late nineteenth century, being used in all manners of products, from suspenders, belts, watch chains to necklaces. In the 1940s, Hollywood icon Greta Garbo was rarely seen without a pair of gold curb link bracelets. Typifying both the glamor of hollywood and the dignity of Mayfair the chain was the perfect motif for Despres' silverware.
