Herakles Knot Garnet Bracelet
$4,500
Dating from the Victorian era, this flexible gold foxtail chain bracelet is set with five rich red almandine garnets. A double line of foxtail chain joins the five bezel-set garnet cabochons, framing each stone in a Herakles knot. Sleek and modern in sensibility, this soft and boldly colorful bracelet stands out on its own, or pairs beautifully with antique bloomed gold bangles for an opulent period look.

As lovers of sentimental jewelry, the Victorians revived and reinterpreted the gold and garnet Herakles knot design of Ancient Greek wedding jewels. Hellenistic bracelets, rings, and armbands unearthed by 19th century archaeologists (as well as robbers) featured this motif, the double interlocking knots in some cases fully realized in polished garnet.
