Gem-Set Stained Glass Pheasant Brooch
Dating from the Art Deco period, this exquisite brooch is set with almost nine carats of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and onyx, a testament to the 1920s art of stylized imagery created in carved gems. The pheasant in the central panel is set with buff-top yellow and blue sapphires, rubies, and emeralds, against a frosted rock crystal sky, along with with delicate emerald fronds and a sparkling field of rose-cut diamonds. On either side, exquisite platinum pierce work portrays diamond leaves among conforming calibré-cut gems in the stained glass bejeweled frame, all surrounded by diamonds and scroll motifs. Brilliantly-colored and captivating in design, it is an exuberant work of Art Deco jeweled artistry to wear.
