Gabriel Argy-Rousseau "Poissons Dans Les Vagues" Pâte de Verre Glass Vase
This pâte de verre glass vase, entitled "Poissons dans les vagues" by Gabriel Argy-Rousseau, lives up to its translated name of "fish in the waves," depicting large, beautifully-colored blueish-green fish surfing serenely on oversized, stylized, and textured waves in ombre hues ranging from the palest blue to the deepest purple. While the waves dominate the composition, the wonderfully expressive fish peaking from behind their crescents steal the show, and immediately attract the eye.
