The stylized naturalism of this pendant associates it with Fabergé’s work in the Art Nouveau style. Fabergé was a pioneer in this major international style, but never indulged in the outré designs and materials that appeared from the hands of less artistic jewelers elsewhere. Like Lalique, Fabergé used the newly invented man-made rubies, considered a wonder of technology, as accent stones.
