A contemporary take on a classic design, these flexible day-to-night pendant earrings are composed of emeralds and diamonds set in white and yellow gold. The detachable diamond tops are each designed as a diamond floret suspending a round brilliant-cut diamond and a rectangular-cut emerald framed by round brilliant-cut diamonds. Emeralds are among the most difficult gems to mine, making them a truly artisanal stone. Unlike diamonds, which survive punishment by the weather and the elements, emeralds’ relative fragility can require skilled extraction by hand tools, while overexposure of emerald-bearing seams can lead to the gem material being washed away.
