Diamond and Ruby Dragonfly Brooch

$49,500

Created in the late 19th century, this diamond and ruby dragonfly brooch containing approximately 11.00 carats of diamonds is set in silver-topped gold. The dragonfly is designed with an old European-cut diamond body, bead-set with stones graduating in size to approximately 1.10 carats at its head, accented by circular-cut ruby eyes, and flanked by pairs of patterned diamond wings, all mounted in patinated silver-topped 18K gold. With the scintillation and spectral fire of the antique-cut diamonds against the jewel’s dramatic dark patination, this glittering gem-set insect captures the magical iridescent qualities of nature itself.
