Sumptuous double rings were an invention of luxury-loving aesthetes of ancient civilizations. Tomb excavations in Cyprus have uncovered similarly formed gold jewelry, such as fused bombé gold bands of two and three rings dating from 1000-850 B.C. (Met Museum no. 74.51.4131-.4132). Cypriot statuary fragments indicate that fused rings and multiple single rings were worn on three fingers of the hand at once.
