This Favrile glass candle lamp by Tiffany Studios New York is a rarity, with its beautiful patinated bronze mosaic-adorned base. The base of the candlestick-holder is ribbed and features inlaid greenish mosaic, which narrows elegantly as it reaches a thick horizontal band of equally stunning blue mosaic. The Favrile glass shade of the piece contrasts the weight and resolutely geometric patterning of the base perfectly; it is blown of the finest glass in a light and delicate cream color, with faint green and shimmering gold feathering patterns reaching upward like flames.

This piece is of particular note in that Louis Comfort Tiffany took the time and great attention to attend to a form of light many believed was of the past in 1900. Just as his lamps make great use of electric light, this incredible piece, notably including rare Tiffany mosaic, shows the master's ability to deftly create a glass innovation that would capture—and indeed highlight—the particular beauty of any light source.
