Tiffany Studios New York Ruffled Rim Flower Form Glass Vase

$20,000

This flower form Favrile glass vase, by Louis Comfort Tiffany for Tiffany Studios New York, is shaped like a budding flower with an elongated, subtly-undulating, and ultra-delicate stem. The entire composition shimmers in iridescent glass of the warmest hues of ochre, umber and marigold, particularly around the base of the bloom, where an emerald green offsets the golden coloration. A bright kelly green tinges the stem and striated base of the delicate form, while bright white draws the eye toward the ruffled rim.

Favrile glass vases in the shapes of stylized flowers were among the earliest creations of the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company, forerunner of Tiffany Studios. Initial examples of this technique date from approximately 1894, although later pieces show greater refinement. Flower forms have great variety in stem length and rim shape.
