Tiffany Studios New York "Peony" Table Lamp

This Tiffany Studios New York "Peony" leaded glass and bronze table lamp features a shade that is covered with deeply-hued red, pink, and purple flowers with bright yellow centers on a varied green and blue ground. The lush bouquet of oversized blooms dances playfully with three petite bands of blue-green rippled glass, sometimes ducking behind, and sometimes spilling over, the striations of specially-rippled glass. The shade sits atop a Tiffany Studios New York bronze patinated base that has an onion design surrounding the round foot, with stems climbing the side of the base.

Louis Comfort Tiffany so loved the peony bloom that he produced several "Peony" shades, each with different coloration, patterning, and dimensions, making each of the "Peony" floral lamps both one-of-a-kind, and also part of an elite grouping of those patterns closest to Tiffany's heart.
