Louis Comfort Tiffany for Tiffany & Co. Black Opal Ring
Set with a natural-form black opal, encircled by gold grapevines and conforming leaf and vine motifs, this gorgeous Tiffany & Co. ring by Louis Comfort Tiffany is a miniature ode to nature. The leafy grapevines set with opals was a favored motif in Louis Comfort Tiffany’s earliest artistic jewelry, including the prize-winning work he designed in secret for the 1904 St. Louis Exposition. In this ring, the black opal’s vivid ultramarine and iridescent green flashes are accentuated by the brilliantly-colored blue sapphires and green demantoid garnets nestled among the gold leaves.
