Enamel Musical Muse Locket Necklace

This locket necklace depicts a diamond-adorned and colorfully-enameled musical muse with butterfly wings in the midst of a performance, playing a double flute, and surrounded by romantic blooming poppies in glowing multi-color enamels. The Art Nouveau jewel celebrates women's musical achievements in the second half of the 19th century, when gifted women thoughtfully managed their own careers in the music industry, winning enthusiastic praise from critics, and cultivating worldwide devoted following. The gold and enamel chain is a later period addition, while the locket hides a compartment to hold an image close to the heart.
