This gilt bronze sculpture by Agathon Léonard, entitled "Danseuse À L'Écharpe No. 14," was likely inspired by the incredible "scarf dancing" made famous by the renowned turn-of-the-century dancer, Loïe Fuller. The incredible bronze form seems frozen by a Midas touch mid-motion; though lushly monochromatic, the figure is so well-cast as to give individual life to every fold, crease and ripple of fabric, as well as the dancer's delicate, serene features.

After Agathon Léonard's bisque porcelains won acclaim at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1900, he proceeded to collaborated with the Susse Frères foundry to produce the renowned original fifteen-piece table-top group "Le jeu d'écharpe," for which he is now seen as a master in French Art Nouveau style.
