Ruby and Gold Leaf Cuff Links
Created around 1900, these Art Nouveau cuff links are composed of gold with ruby highlights. Each chased form is designed as a pair of leaves with a ruby bud within a frame of sinuous branching vines, joined by a trace link chain to a tapering elliptical bar link. These smoothly shaped and elegant forms slip easily into the cuff, adding a touch of artistic naturalism and tiny pop of color to the sleeve.

The Art Nouveau movement originated in Belgium in the 1890s, and briefly became an international style throughout Continental Europe and the United States. It was especially eagerly received as inspiration in France, where decorative artists, architects, and jewelers—such as René Lalique—achieved masterpieces in the idiom.
