Buccellati "Tulle Ghirlanda" Diamond Ring

Created by Buccelatti, this "Tulle Ghirlanda" ring is composed of 18K white gold and diamonds. The broad band pierced in a "honeycomb" pattern and highlighted by diamonds is bordered with scalloped diamond edges. A study in technical virtuosity, this light and exquisite design makes the diamonds appear to float on the surface, like sparkles on lace tulle.

The lightness and refinement of Gianmaria Buccellati's honeycomb jewels were inspired by the graceful collars of Venetian lace worn by men and women during the Renaissance. These "tulle" jewels allow the diamonds to hover above the skin, while the metal mounting itself is reduced by the craftsman to near non-existence.
