Tiffany Studios New York "Peony" Border Floor Lamp

This Tiffany Studios New York floor lamp features a stunning leaded glass shade with a lush foreground of peony blossoms, ranging from a vivid pinkish-red to a soft and lustrous pinkish-purple, each framed by a uniquely rendered leaf in varied hues of green. This lush vegetal scene gives way to a multi-hued geometric grid that mimics the sky at dawn or dusk. The piece is finely rounded out by a unique double border at the bottom of the shade, the upper made of mottled amber green glass, and the bottom of another, equally rare, rippled green glass. The shade sits atop a patinated bronze "decorated senior" floor base.

Tiffany Studios New York's world-famous lamps are often divided into two categories; floral or geometric. In this astonishing example of Louis Comfort Tiffany's work, we not only find both floral and geometric patterns, but we find them married in an especially harmonious composition.
