An aura of warm iridescence radiates from this Tiffany Studios New York Favrile glass "Millefiori" vase, enlivening its low inverted baluster form. The technique of millefiori glassmaking was invented by the ancient Egyptians, developed by the Greeks and Romans, and revived by Venetian glassmakers in the Renaissance. Delicate white marsh marigold flowers are applied in a wave arrangement, while adjoined tenuously by a sinuous network of vines. Gold, green, and red iridescence are trapped between clear layers of glass giving this vase astounding levels of depth.
