The short supply of precious stones in France during the wartime years of the 1940s caused older jewelry to be recycled, the stones unmounted and placed in new, contemporary settings. The juxtaposition of these 18th or early 19th century hand-cut diamonds with the handmade ring’s ultramodern look of industrial chic enhances the jewel’s intense charm.
