Jewelers working in the Arts & Crafts spirit, including Edward Everett Oakes and his son, continued well into the 1930s and 40s. The Society of Arts & Crafts Boston went on encouraging the ideal of the studio jeweler, who handled every step in the creation of jewelry from conception to finish. With a mission "to develop and encourage higher artistic standards in the art of handicrafts", the Society still exists in the Boston Seaport District.
