Tiffany Studios New York Favrile Decorated Glass Vase
This Tiffany Studios New York Favrile decorated glass vase features a warm, cream colored background that serves as a calming backdrop for the fiery iridescent burnt orange, bright blue, and red-violet patterning that overlays it. The dynamic patterning itself shows Louis Comfort Tiffany's dynamic eye for both color and line, with the swaying motif created by dancing sinuous lines and an array of iridescent color.

Favrile is the trade name that Louis Comfort Tiffany gave to his blown art glass—the name derives from the Latin word fabrilis, meaning "made by hand." The technique was developed at Tiffany Studios' Furnaces in the mid-1890s, using filaments from batches of differently colored glass and working the material together while the glass was still molten.
