Okrant and Davidonniez Paris Diamond "Wave" Strap Bracelet

SOLD
$95,000

This Art Deco platinum and diamond strap bracelet was created in the 1920s. It is formed of pierced, articulated links that compose a design of parabolic lines emanating from bezel-set diamond centers, enhanced by edges incised with foliate motifs. With its playful exploration of swirling parabolic lines, this unusual Art Deco strap bracelet is a sparkling statement of strong modern design from 1920s Paris.

In Paris during the 1920s, design ideas evolved at a great rate. Proving the value of jewelry as an art form, French jewelers exhibiting at the 1925 Exposition powerfully demonstrated that precious materials, artistically and thoughtfully handled, could express the intellectual vigor of modernism. With its restricted palette and focus on a single dynamic motif, this bracelet represents a forward step in the artistic transition from Art Deco’s geometric abstraction to the curvilinear, streamlined forms of the Art Moderne.
