Louis Majorelle Mahogany Triangular Side Table
This triangular French Art Nouveau table by Louis Majorelle is a multi-level mahogany table dynamically featuring two tiers of related, but varied, shapes married by three beautifully bowed and ribbed legs. While the bottom tier of the table is resolutely triangular, with only the very points of the shape rounded so as to meet each of the three legs gracefully, the upper tier is instead a more concretely rounded structure with only three subtle points above each of the legs' terminations turning it triangular at all. The result is a dynamic composition that invites the eye to meditate on each level of the piece as well as its adjoining structures; the beautiful legs finished with gilt bronze sabots.
