Jacques Grüber Three-Tier Walnut Pedestal
$27,500
This three-tier pedestal in walnut with floral motifs, by Jacques Grüber, is gracefully carved with a rounded top and bottom tier, and three curving legs, each ribbed and curved so as to mimic the grand appearance of the ribbing of a Gothic cathedral. The French Art Nouveau pedestal has sinuous, vegetal motifs where the legs meet the each individual tier, softening the composition and adding significant visual interest.

A founding member of the École de Nancy, it is perhaps no surprise that Jacques Grüber created a piece here that is so reminiscent of the architecture of great cathedrals; as a famed glass window artist, he would have spent his time in many of them and participated in the creation of their beauty.
