Tiffany Studios New York Ruffled Rim Flower Form Glass Vase

SOLD
$14,500

A beautifully hued floriform vase by Tiffany Studios, this delicate piece is so brilliantly colored and dynamically formed as to provide a strength of design that is at ravishing odds with the daintiness of the work's composition. A rippling upper edge in whiteish shades allows for peeks of the golden hues within the vase, a golden coloration also present in the body of the vase's bloom, and complemented by the Kelly green color of the piece's stalk. The subtly undulating base feature gossamer striations of green, gold and whiteish tones.

Favrile glass vases in the shapes of stylized flowers were among the earliest creations of the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company, forerunner of Tiffany Studios. Initial examples of this technique date from approximately 1894, although later pieces show greater refinement. Flower forms have great variety in stem length and rim shape.
