René Boivin Fancy Color Diamond Earrings

Set in rich yellow gold, these diamond earrings, interspersed with fancy-color diamonds, come from the Paris boutique of René Boivin, run ably for many decades by his talented widow Jeanne. With their fluid form and vividly-colored gems arrayed in subtle and complementary compositions, these 1980s earrings maintain the firm’s traditionally sensuous and playful spirit. The textured gold earring base is a wide tear drop shape, with a large decorative ''X'' of colorless diamonds encircling the bottom of the earring, making them fully dimensional.

Known for her unusually creative work, and aided by a team of women designers, the widowed Jeanne Boivin produced some of the most memorable jewels of the 20th century. After decades as a woman-run business, René Boivin was sold in the 1970s to a long-serving staff member who loved the firm, and was ultimately purchased by Asprey’s London.
