Amalric Walter "Lizard" Pâte de Verre Vide-Poche Glass Dish
This French pâte de verre vide-poche, by Amalric Walter, features a predominantly canary yellow shallow dish, circular in shape with a rim of varying height, with a sunbathing lizard, executed in exquisite detail with naturalistic texturing and poised countenance, at the highest point of the dish rim. The lizard looks upward invitingly at the viewer as his body encircles the dish, though he body seems tersed, poised to run, his expressive features suggest that he is, in fact, quiet interested in his view.
