Diamond and Platinum-Topped Gold "Puffed Heart" Locket Necklace

SOLD
$25,000

Dating from the Edwardian period, this platinum-topped gold “puffed heart” pendant locket, convertible to a brooch, offers almost four carats of diamonds. The domed heart-shape with pierced scrolling foliate and floral openwork motifs is bead-set with old European and old mine-cut diamonds, while the reverse reveals a crystal-covered locket compartment and inscription. The light and airy form with its playful volume and sparkle can be suspended from a velvet ribbon, cord or period chain, then place a beloved photo or lock of hair inside for a sweet and sentimental touch.
