Tiffany Studios New York "Dragonfly" Cone Chandelier
This exceptional example of the famed Tiffany Studios New York "Dragonfly" motif, in cone chandelier form, features such technically beautiful innovations as wire mesh wings, ripple glass along the border, and cabochon glass "gemstones" integrated seamlessly into the design. But beyond the inclusion of each of these special details, this particularly elegant chandelier offers a selection of leaded glass that demonstrates a subtle, nuanced, and delicate understanding of color. The dragonflies, composed of dark green glass bodies with variegated blue glass wings and red glass eyes, interplay amongst the many hues of amber and green—while the lines created in the color patterns create an atmospheric impression of an almost aquatic terrain. The piece is adjustable in height with a patinated bronze hanging chain, and delicately finished with a patinated bronze beaded top and bottom rim.
