Louis Majorelle Walnut Wood Server "Cephalaria" Cabinet
This Art Nouveau walnut wood server cabinet by Louis Majorelle is punctuated by a detailed "Cephalaria" motif. The server has two drawers with gilt-bronze handles adorned with a leaf motif, as well as double door storage below, and is elaborately carved throughout in a floral cephalaria motif. The composition of the French piece, which features both sinuous lines creating a rounded effect and starkly rectilinear components which demonstrate Majorelle's ability to combine a beautiful form with complete functionality. The piece stands as a visual anchor in the set that it belongs to.
