Diamond and Onyx Poppy Pendant Brooch
This late Edwardian platinum poppy pendant brooch, dating from the 1910s-1920s, is set with approximately six-and-a-half carats of diamonds and onyx. The pierced openwork circular form with millegrain accents depicts an open blossom framed by leaves, trailing vines and buds, with an articulated knife-edge bar fringe, set throughout with old European-cut diamonds and calibré-cut onyx highlights. This convertible jewel unites exquisite period platinum work, Edwardian delicacy, and Art Deco abstraction in a versatile, sparkling flower jewel to pin to a gown or grace the neck.
