Ilias Lalaounis “Neolithic” Hammered Gold Bangle

Designed by Ilias Lalalounis in the 1960s, this “Late Neolithic” bangle bracelet is composed of 18K gold. The hand-hammered abstract bangle was inspired by the anthropomorphic forms of Cypriot vases from the late Neolithic period. This sleek form, a classic design by a women-owned, family firm, offers the timeless power of abstract design combined with the glow of beautifully-worked Greek gold - wear on its own or stack it easily with additional gold bracelets.

The art of early Cyprus, the crossroads of the ancient world, features strong forms, intriguing geometric motifs and a disciplined palette, with a particularly prolific domestic tradition in sculpture. Despite an environment of chronic instability, the people managed to create enduringly beautiful works of art. As did their ancient counterparts, Lalaounis goldsmiths make each piece by hand.
