Diamond and Sapphire Strap Bracelet

$40,000

Composed of old European- and marquise-cut diamonds, and accented by sapphires, this Art Deco bracelet from the 1920s is set with more than twelve carats of diamonds. Designed as four pierce work, articulated sections joined by arched links, each centers nine bezel-set marquise diamonds forming a central navette, and framed by pavé-set old European-cut diamonds, accented by calibré-cut sapphires and baguettes. This finely articulated and flexible strap, a favorite jewel of the era, pairs with other Art Deco bracelets, or stands alone as a sparkling statement of period design.

Period society photos and advertisements for leading haute couture houses feature models wearing three diamond straps per arm, such as with Lanvin and Cartier, revealing the close association of haute joaillerie and and haute couture, and the hold the diamond strap bracelet exerted on style setters throughout the glamorous decade of the 1920s.
