Tiffany Studios New York "Nasturtium" Paperweight Glass Vase
This "Nasturtium" paperweight glass vase, from Tiffany Studios New York, features purple nasturtium blossoms with green leaves set within a golden, translucent ground. The beauty of the paperweight glass technique comes not only from knowing that it was a marvelous technical innovation of its time, but also in the particularly romantic ocular effect it achieves. Through careful and innovative layering of glass forms, Louis Comfort Tiffany managed, in this vase, to create a soft and hazy, inviting and atmospheric effect in which the nasturtium blossoms appear as though within a pleasant mirage.
