Tiffany Studios New York Floral "Paperweight" Favrile Glass Vase
This Favrile "Paperweight" vase by Tiffany Studios New York incorporates highly sophisticated glass techniques, using it to showcase and capture the phenomenon of changing light in the golden hour before the sun sets or rises against a stem of gladiolus flowers with yellow, green and purple threads. The earliest examples of "Paperweight" objects appeared around 1900, Louis Comfort Tiffany loved this technique of encasing a design within a dome of transparent glass because it was a great vehicle for expressing the ethereal and ephemeral nature of the blooms he so cherished.
