Art Nouveau Bisque Ceramic Sculpture by Agathon Leonard

A French Art Nouveau bisque ceramic figural sculpture by Agathon Léonard, featuring a woman holding her dress with her right hand. Titled “Danseuse au cothurne” from “Le jeu de l’écharpe.” Circa 1900. This figure is one of the “la danse” (the dance) set, originally produced and cast by Sevres and presented by the artist at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. A similar model is pictured in “Agathon Léonard: Le geste Art nouveau,” by Ingelore Boestge, Somogy editions d’art, Paris 2003, p.51, Plate number 13.
