A French Art Nouveau, "Fougères," vitrine with carved fern decoration in mahogany and burl walnut by Louis Majorelle. The carved ferns adorning the top of the vitrine cleverly make reference to the long tradition, going back to classical times, of acanthus leaf decoration appearing on the capitals of Corinthian columns.
